Viking clothes were made from wool, linen and animal skins. The Vikings were skilful weavers and made their own clothes. Women, with the help of children, made the wool into yarn and used natural dyes from plants to give it colour. Women wore a long dress with a pinafore over it. This was often decorated with elaborate woven braid and fastened with brooch pins.
I have used poly cotton for both the dress and pinafore as it is an easy care fabric for the modern day. The hand braided belt is made from wool, this is included with the costume.
The 100% cotton shawl and money pouch are optional extras which can be purchased from my costume accessories page.
